The Beauty

Out of the warmth and darkness

Of everlasting being

Out of the fullness and totality

Of everything and no thing

Out of the completeness and emptiness

Out of the urge and desire

Like a wind rushing upon the waters

Where there was not yet

Any wind or any water

Like a sigh

Comes the first stirring of Creation

In the need to know itself.

Miraculous this

To cause the appearance

Of God and the human

Within an order and design

The beauty of the Creation

Given form for the first time.

Over the millions of years

Or in a split second of universal time

The intricate profundity

Of the design,

Woven from that first sigh.

Containing within it

And within us in simile

The full range, low to high

As the divine function, knowledge

And understanding cartwheel

In the sky –

Like millions of stars

Dancing in perfect harmony

To our – for a time – earthly eyes,

Ourselves a simile of that great design.
