SPIRITUAL PITFALLS

What if your spiritual journey

isn't taking you

where you thought it would?

FREE ONLINE EVENT

Saturday 21st November 2026

11:00 am - 12:30 pm ET

Free • Live online • No experience needed

A young woman is hiking in wooded mountains and crossing a rapidly moving stream on a large fallen log. Her arms are outstretched to help her balance, as she navigates this potential pitfall in her journey. This is analogous to pitfalls on a spiritual journey.

You can have profound spiritual experiences. Read inspiring books. Meditate. Attend workshops. Gain new insights.

And years later, still find that you haven't really changed.

Why?

Because spiritual experience and spiritual development are not the same thing — and relying too heavily on either one can hold

you back.

Join us for a different look at what makes a spiritual journey actually move.

A picture of a dishevelled young woman looking at her face in the mirror. In the mirror she looks serene and wise (which is what she wants to be because of her spiritual development journey) but in reality her life is a mess. It is the spiritual pitfall of imagining yourself doing well when in fact you are not.

HAS YOUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY STALLED?

Most spiritual journeys begin with an experience.

Something touches you, opens your perception or gives you a glimpse of a greater possibility.

Naturally, you want more.

More experiences. More understanding. More inspiration. More moments when life seems to open up and reveal something deeper.

But there is a potential trap.

PEOPLE LEAVE OUR EVENTS SAYING

5 testimonials from people who attended past events. 1) “The whole meeting was helpful and uplifting, specifically the meditation. It was an incredible process.” - Lottie. 2) “A beautiful presentation of warmth and compassion” – Joanne. 3) “The techniques demonstrated were easy to understand, apply and the effects from trying them were instant and positive.” – Lottie. 4) “I loved the part with the exercises because I did get to see the aura” - Jacqueline. 5) “I learned so much and felt so much calmer.” – Adena. It is accompanied by a picture of a broad, sunny landscape with a young woman sitting to one side of the picture gazing at the amazing view.

Having spiritual experiences doesn't necessarily mean you are spiritually developing.

Years can pass while you accumulate experiences and understanding — yet the way you react, relate to people, deal with difficulties and move through everyday life remains surprisingly unchanged.

The experience may have shown you a door.

But have you actually walked through it?

EXPERIENCE ISN'T ENOUGH

A spiritual experience can awaken something within you.

It can inspire you, challenge what you thought was possible and reveal a different way of experiencing yourself and life.

But an experience can fade.

You return to everyday life. Old habits reappear. Familiar reactions return. The glimpse of something greater remains a memory rather than becoming part of who you are.

Experience can show you what is possible.
Development helps you become capable of living it.

But there's another trap.

DEVELOPMENT ISN'T ENOUGH EITHER

Once you recognize the need to change yourself, it's easy to turn spirituality into a project.

Practices. Disciplines. Rules. Routines. Goals.

You work harder at becoming the person you think you ought to be.

But development without enough life, experience and discovery can become rigid.

Instead of becoming more alive, you can slowly squeeze the life out of yourself.

So where is the balance?

A young woman is sitting in lovely woodland on a sunny day reading a book titled “Becoming More Aware”. She looks absorbed in the book as if doing the opposite of what she is reading about, in that she does not appear to be aware of her lovely surroundings at all. It is the spiritual pitfall of studying too much, thinking you are progressing, but not actually practising what you are learning.

THE TWO NEED EACH OTHER

Imagine your spiritual journey as having two sides.

EXPERIENCE opens you to something new.

It brings discovery, inspiration and a sense of greater possibility.

DEVELOPMENT enables you to do something with what you have discovered.

It asks you to change, grow and gradually bring more of that possibility into the way you actually live.

Too much emphasis on experience, and you can spend your life searching for the next spiritual high.

Too much emphasis on development, and your spiritual life can become a programme of self-improvement.

Bring the two together, and something different becomes possible.

Your experiences begin to inform your development.

And your development makes you capable of experiences that weren't available to you before.

WHAT DOES YOUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY NEED NOW?

That's the question we'll explore together.

During this free live event, you'll:

  • Discover why spiritual experiences alone don't necessarily create real change

  • Explore what spiritual development actually means — and what it doesn't

  • Recognize some of the pitfalls that can quietly stall a spiritual journey

  • Consider whether you need more experience, more development — or a better relationship between the two

  • Explore what your spiritual journey may be asking of you now

This isn't about giving you another set of beliefs to accept.

It's an opportunity to look at your own spiritual journey differently — and perhaps recognize something you haven't seen before.

A young man is walking in lovely woodland. He is staring up at a signpost that says “Perfect Teacher” to the left and “Perfect Teaching “ to the right. It is the spiritual pitfall of becoming enticed by all these great promises that other people offer, instead of doing the work yourself.

PERHAPS YOU DON'T NEED ANOTHER SPIRITUAL ANSWER

Perhaps you need a better question.

Am I actually becoming different because of my spiritual life?

Not simply what do I understand?

Not what have I experienced?

Not how spiritual do I feel?

But:  What is changing in me?

And what kind of movement do I need next?

Join us and explore how experience and development can work together to open a greater possibility of you.
